Let's Stop Monkeying Around

Posted by Lori Pepe-Lunche on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, In : Donations

I recently spotted this new campaign by the World Wildlife Fund Australia in a design site that I subscribe to. It sure made me stop and think. The graphics are brilliant but the message is clear.

If you're trying to find the perfect gift for someone with everything this holiday season, consider a donation to the WWF. It's also a great project for kids to get involved in as it doesn't require much. A small donation makes a big difference.

Grecian Laurel Wreath + A Fun Gift Idea For Friends

Posted by Lori Pepe-Lunche on Friday, December 16, 2011, In : DIY (Do It Yourself) Projects

I've always loved the Greek Laurel wreath (crest) of ancient times and thought it would be a fun and simple project for a slightly different take on the traditional holiday version. It's straight forward and simple yet elegant.

Materials you will need:
  • Approximately 3 small Magnolia tree branches
  • 2 pieces of cardboard
  • Glue gun with hot glue sticks
  • Gold leaf or gold acrylic paint
  • fishline to create loops for hanging

First, cut out 2 crescent shaped pieces of cardboard. They should be about one to t...

Jim Wishart...The Tile Master

Posted by Lori Pepe-Lunche on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, In : Tile Setter

A few years ago, Scott Meadows, an exceptional contractor in the Bay Area, introduced me to Jim as a tile resource for my clients. I have since utilized Jim as my first line tiler in several of my projects and thought you also might like to meet him. He is a perfectionist with a plethora of knowledge and experience supporting his talent!

How did you begin your career as a tiler?

Originally I was looking for a trade that I was interested in. I met a friend that tiled, accompanied him to one of ...

A Cactus Jungle!

This fantastic little succulent and cactus nursery has been in operation for 15 years while gaining national attention for...

I thought these little succulents that come in coconut fiber pots for just $3.50 would make the perfect little gifts. There are many varieties available and all you need to do is tie a ribbon around them!

They utilize all organic and sustainable materials to raise the healthiest little cactus and succulents ...

Do you need a nice large coffee table for entertaining during the holidays but would rather save the money for gifts?

No problem...these tables are not only easily put together with materials you may already have, but are certainly worthy of a permanent place in your home!

For this stylish number, all you need are 3-4 stones that are very similar in height and 1 round or square plywood plank, old outdoor table top...

Keep It Simple...Green

Posted by Lori Pepe-Lunche on Friday, December 2, 2011, In : Flowers

Greens are so simple, elegant, and inexpensive for the holidays!

I don't usually start decorating this early, but my family wanted a little more time to enjoy the holiday feeling in our own home this year.

All you need is:

2-3 Branches. I used dried Manzanita but Curly Willow or any other tree branch off the street will look great!

2 leafy branches with a small berry or blossom,

Cedar, Juniper, or Pine branches. 4-5 will do ( I used Cedar),

3 Eucalyptus branches (for the silvery green),

A...
